Package Details
1.Addis Ababa then flight to Mekele/ Semera
Mini City tour in Addis Ababa visit the National museum, visit the monuments including Lion of Juda Emperior Miniliks monument and the biggest open air market called Merkato Market then domestic flight to Semera /  Mekele, O/N in Ruftana Hotel or similar
2. Drive to Dalol
After breakfast we start our journey to the Dallol Depression, you will visit different places like the colorful salt lakes and thermo active springs of Dallol also the different spectrum landscapes, after lunch travel to Abala, overnight camping
3. Drive to Ert Ale
We drive 260km to reach to the bottom of the volcano then in the evening we start 3 up to 4hours trekking to the top of the volcano with joining different partners, then you will visit the stunning active volcano lake, overnight camping
4. Drive back to Mekele/ Semera
After having breakfast drive to Lake Afdera, you will swim in Lake Afrera & take bath in a natural hot springs, after lunch we proceed driving to Mekele, then transfer to airport for your flight to Addis Ababa.

About Danakil:

Afar or Danakil Depression, also known as the Afar Triangle, is the hottest place on earth, with an average temperature ranging from 30 to 50 degrees Celsius. Located around Dalol, you’ll find yourself at 120 meters below sea level, making Afar (Dalol) the lowest land depression on earth after the Dead Sea. It is also an area where early mankind lived, with the 3.18-million-year-old Lucy (Australopithecus afarensis) fossil discovered in the Hadar region and the 4.5-million-year-old Ardi (Ardipithecus ramidus) fossil found in the area.

When you explore this desert, you’ll feel like you’re on another planet due to the unique sights, including:

• The DALOL landscapes, featuring multi-colored hot springs and bizarre formations with colors that change over time.
• The ERTA-ALE volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on the planet. Witness the mesmerizing sight of a 20-meter-deep boiling pond bubbling and spitting lava, especially captivating at night.
• Lake ASAL, a unique salt lake surrounded by vast salt plains resembling rocks. Spanning 900km2, this lake lies on the border between Ethiopia and Djibouti.
• Lastly, observe the endless caravans loading salt stones from the nearby Afdera Salt Lake, covered with brick salt. People from Afar and Tigrai cut out the salt from the lake and load it onto their camels.
